Grace Ostan (Haiti, 2017) Introducing clean delivery kits to improve knowledge of clean birth practices in Haiti. DNP project UNC Charlotte. DNP student conducted a project to improve maternal and infant mortality rates in a Caribbean country. Guided by the Health Belief Model, the purpose of this quantitative study was to evaluate an intervention to introduce clean delivery education and kits to pregnant women in Grand Goave, Haiti. A total of 18 Haitian women of childbearing age completed the educational intervention. As a result of the intervention, there was a significant increase in clean birth practice knowledge scores on pre and post-test surveys. By educating women in the Grand Coave area, the goal was to increase maternal infant education and clean birth practices in a developing country.
